How far can a man go before he becomes the thing he despises? How far can the law bend before it shatters? Fugitive Billy Gamble is about to find out, thanks to a sadistic serial killer known as The Nomad.

Unable to return to the United States, wanted criminal Billy Gamble is a drifter by necessity. After Interpol agent Eve Donaghue nearly captures him in Tokyo, he flees to Thailand. But when The Nomad frames Billy for a gruesome murder, it sets in motion an explosive chain of events that can only end when one of them is dead. Driven by revenge, Billy must follow a bloody trail of victims from Thailand, to Malaysia, to the darkest jungles of Borneo.

Corley, a seasoned screenwriter and director, has built a solid basis for his series with a lead character that frightens and intrigues. The author’s own adventures as a nomad exploring exotic locales is beautifully intertwined in the story, giving it authenticity. The strength of the novel lies in the local knowledge and as the series continues, Corley can further refine the characters for a more engaging backstory that keeps the reader more in tune with the plot that at times is lacking. The novel is written in a McCarthy-style that does make for a difficult read.

Written with an eye for detail and an ear for dialogue, David Lee Corley expertly realizes the sights, sounds, and atmosphere of Southeast Asia, inviting the reader to hold on as complex characters and startling twists drive this fast- paced thriller.
